Our Mission

COMMUNITY ENDOWMENT FOUNDATION (CEF) was founded in December 1991 as a Houston-based non-profit organization whose primary mission is to provide affordable, long-term, permanent housing for people with AIDS. This is a population with financial difficulties that we would hope no one should have to face. Though the trajectory of the disease has changed dramatically because of advances in medicine, for certain portions of the HIV/AIDS population in Houston, affordable long-term permanent housing still remains a chief concern. Periodic bouts of illness can result in loss of employment, home and personal property. The result can be despair and loss of independence, security and support systems.v It was for this population that SWEHLA HOUSE was built.
